vending machine prices

My argument is that the price of some of the things in the vending machines are way to high. The prices of things like drinks, ice cream products and dairy items. The cost of these things are higher then the prices at the stores. Drinks here are 1.75, while at the stores you can get the same size bottle for a cheaper price. Some ice cream products are 1.75 as well. As for dairy items yogurts are 1.00, while at stores there only 60-70 cents. I think that people arent getting there moneys worth when they use their money at the vending machines. I say lower the prices, the money we save can be money we can put into something more useful. Things like extra gas money, or save up the extra money for a future trip to the vending machines.

  1. You will have to consider that if you run a business like vending you must have a margin. Also if you don't want to buy from the vending machines you can go to the twilight zone or the cougar eat to buy things at a cheaper price. You could even bring the stuff yourself. But from the business side of things the vendor owners are doing a service and the return margin probably aren't that high.

  2. I think you have a valid point at saying the prices are too high. As the person above me said also that there does need to be some sort of margin for vending machine merchandise. One question I would have is who is your audience and who would you be targeting in your paper?

  3. i would have to agree with Malosi. It is importand to specify who the target audience is. I did a project in one of my classes about a simular subject and this was one concern that was addressed. i would suggest addressing nutrition as an arguement as well. it may help.

  4. An opposing viewpoint to this argument may be that it is your choice to use the vending machines or not. Nobody is making you buy things from the vending machines, they are just their for students convenience so consequently ya it will be a little bit more expensive. (personally I do think that you have a valid point). Also is your call to action "avoid the vending machines" or "lower the prices". Like the people above me stated those are two different audiences.. something to consider

  5. well the reason why the vendors of the vending machines make the prices so high is because they know people will spend 2 bucks on an ice cream or soda. i think you have a really good argument about lowering the prices though.
