Censoring The President

There is an issue in many Utah, LDS populated areas that parents are concerned about their children being victims of liberal brainwashing speeches that are presented to them in their evil schools. These well meaning parents think that in order for children to hear, for instance, the President of the United States, their President, that the children must obtain a parental permission slip. This behavior is illogical and just plain stupid. These parents are treating the President of the United States like an R rated movie. First of all being Liberal is not evil. There are many good LDS members who are active democrats. And not letting your child hear the other side of political views isn't going to help them, it will disable them from understanding politics. I myself am a fairly conservative rebuplican and I understand that it is the parents' right to raise their kids the way they think is best. But whether or not they agree with the views that are held by Their president, they need to hear them. Teach them why you don't agree with what he is saying but quite honestly you need to respect him as the President of the United States. He is Your president and despite the differing of opinions he is only doing what he thinks is best to help this country.

  1. Wow is this really happening? Which Utah schools? I think this is a fascinating topic, just make sure to keep your tone very diplomatic. If you really want to convince people to see your side, you've got to be careful not to offend them in the process. I look forward to hearing more about this!

  3. I agree this is a very interesting topic. But i did notice a degrading tone and you want to be careful because it makes you sound like you don't have any authority to be talking about this topic.

  4. I also like this topic. It would always bug me when people would speak negatively and insult President Bush. I think people need to be more mature and respect the elected leader of this country

  5. This is a very good topic idea, that I didn't know was going on. I find it very interesting. It's a little hard to tell who you are addressing your argument to at first, but then towards the end it seems like you're addressing the parents. There will be 2 very clear cut sides on this issue, and maybe a few in the middle, but it will probably be tricky to not offend either side in the process. Good luck!

  6. Interesting topic. Look at both sides and study what was being said in the speeches given that could possibly offend such families. Did other states do so as well? Try to make it as nuetral as possible so people aren't offended. Remember things like this happen with every president only some get more coverage than others depending on the biases of the media.

  7. If you know of any, give some examples of censorship that happens within Utah's homes. I've never heard of it, but I'm interested.
